Spring Cookies

I hosted a dinner party last week and wanted to send the ladies home with a small favor. I decided to make soft sugar cookie frosted in bright spring colors. I packaged them four cookies per bag and tied them with a white tulle bow. They were very simple, but added a lot of color to the table.

These can be ordered by the dozen and frosted in any color of your choice!

Anniversary Cake

My husband and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary last week. His favorite cake is Funfetti, but since I make all my cakes from scratch, last year I made a white cake and just added sprinkles to the batter. After one bite he said, "is this a white cake??" So this year I caved and used the box mix, but I still wanted it to look pretty even if it wasn't homemade.

The first time I heard the song "Mine Would Be You," by Blake Shelton, I thought it had the sweetest lyrics and thought it would be fun to write them on a cake--so I did!

30th Birthday Monogram Cake

I made this cake for a close friend's 30th birthday. I incorporated some of her favorite things into it--her favorite colors, pink and green, Lilly inspired design, her monogram, and it was white on white cake. I received many compliments on its look and taste. I was just happy the birthday girl was so happy with it!

Baby Shower Cupcakes

I know earlier in the week I said I don't make cupcakes often and now here I am posting about them again. This was a last minute order that was picked up on Valentine's day which explains why I didn't take a picture until I had them boxed up. Whoops! Anyway, they were chocolate cupcakes with pink and blue vanilla buttercream frosting since they aren't finding out what they are having.

Red Velvet Cupcakes

It's not often that I'm asked to make cupcakes, I'm not sure why. It's also not often that I'm asked to make red velvet cake, but here they both are with chopped pecans on top. I'd never heard of putting pecans on red velvet cake, but I googled it and found out it is common.

Pretty Birthday Cake

Here's another one that I got to be creative with. I was asked to make a pretty cake for a woman's birthday and incorporate lemon into it somehow. I made a vanilla pound cake and frosted it with a vanilla buttercream, then I added pink and purple flowers around the top boarder.

Valentine's Day Cake

For most holidays, I come up with a cake and promote it as my cake for that holiday. For Valentine's day, I came up with this 6 inch chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and created a chocolate and vanilla candy cage to go around it. When I think of Valentine's day I immediately think of chocolate, so I thought this would be perfect. I had great feedback from several people who enjoyed this cake as their Valentine's Day treat!

30th Birthday Cake

I know I've mentioned many times before how much I enjoy when people tell me very little of what they want, and I get to come up with something without too many guidelines.  A lady asked me if I could make a cake for her daughter's surprise 30th birthday. She said she wasn't actually hosting the party, she just didn't want to show up empty handed. She didn't care what colors I used or how I designed it. I suggested bright polka dots (I hope everyone loves polka dots as much as I do) and she loved that idea. It was pound cake with vanilla buttercream frosting and the polka dots were made of marshmallow fondant.

Another Petal Cake

Thanks to Pinterest, this petal design has become very popular. Which is fine with me, because I enjoy this technique. It's slightly time consuming, but simple to do, and I've had so many people just go crazy over it. One of my friends was at a dinner where I made a cake similar to this. A few months later she contacted me and said she wanted a cake like that for one of her friend's birthdays. It was chocolate cake with chocolate and vanilla buttercream frosting.

Baby Shower Sheet Cake

Here's a vanilla pound cake frost in vanilla buttercream. The baby decoration is marshmallow fondant. The shower hostess sent me a copy of the invitation so I could use the same design on the cake. I love getting to see the invitation, because it helps me to stay close to the theme.

Rainbow Petal Cake

It just occurred to me this morning that I hadn't posted my recent cakes in awhile. When I went to my blog I realized just how long it had been, so let me show you what I've been up to.  A mom contacted me wanting a rainbow petal cake for her daughter's birthday.  We went back and forth on what flavor the cake should be, and she decided on chocolate.  A few days after the party she contacted me and said they loved the cake and would be ordering from me in the future--that's always good to hear!
