My favorite cake is what I call white on white--white cake with vanilla butter cream frosting. I had a customer call me and said her daughter wanted her Sweet 16 cake to be chocolate on chocolate. I don't feel like I get as many requests for chocolate cake or chocolate frosting, so I was excited for a change. The party had no theme, but the mom told told her daughter liked bright colors and polka dots.

Gender Reveal Cakes
Gender Reveal parties are becoming very popular. I've been asked to make two cakes for gender reveal parties. One was just a cake for the party and one was the actual reveal.
The theme for this second party was bow or bow tie and the invitation had owls on it, so I ran with that.

Leopard Print
My husband's grandmother loves leopard print. When I found this out I knew I had to make her some type of leopard print cake. I spent months thinking about it. Just a few weeks before her birthday I figured out how to make leopard spots inside a cake. I made a yellow cake cake with leopard spots inside and decorated it in milk chocolate frosting. I kept the outside simple so the inside would be the best part!

Blush
I love when customers give me a color or a theme and then let me run with that. The customer who ordered this cake said it was for a bridal shower and the wedding color was blush. Easy Enough! I decorated it with blush colored frosting and white chocolate. The cake was white and the frosting was butter cream.

Baby Shower Cake
When I was asked to making a jungle themed cake, I was thinking leaves and trees and animals and vines, but the customer actually said she wanted something simple. She sent me a copy of the invitation, and I made fondant animals to match the invitation. It was vanilla pound cake and vanilla butter cream frosting with marshmallow fondant animals.

Bridal Shower Cake
Most of my cake orders are taken over the phone or through email. They are usually pretty simple. I'm having this kind of occasion, this is our theme, and they let me come up with how I specifically want to decorate it. Well, I recently had a lady call me needing a cake for a bridal shower she was throwing. She wanted to set up a time to meet with me and bring pictures of cakes she liked. We spent a good hour looking through the pictures she brought and discussing different ideas. What we ended up coming up with turned out awesome! We worked the wedding colors and number of bridesmaids into the cake.

Strawberries and Cream
There's a bakery back home (Oklahoma City) that makes this wonderful cake with a custard and strawberry filling and it's frosted in a whipped frosting. I wanted to recreate something along those lines, so here it is--three layers of vanilla pound cake filled with vanilla pudding and fresh strawberries and frosted in real whipped cream. This has been my go-to cake lately when customers call and say they want something good!
Chocolate and Peanut Butter
I like peanut butter as much as your average person, but while looking through recipes I kept coming across ones for chocolate and peanut butter cakes or cupcakes. For some reason, they intrigued to and I decided to make one of the cupcake recipes just for fun. The cupcakes was peanut butter flavored with chocolate chips in it, and even without frosting it was very good! The original recipe included peanut butter frosting--it was incredible. I think I could have eaten the whole bowl of it with a spoon. While it was a good frosting, I felt like I needed more chocolate, so I also made a simple milk chocolate frosting and swirled the two together. The cupcakes turned out SO rich, but SO good!
Several months later I had a customer call (rather last minute) needing cupcakes for her bunco group the following day. She wanted something a little different. I told her I had a good peanut butter chocolate chip cupcake, and she said that sounded great to her. I wanted to do something a little different from my initial attempt at them. I decided to still make the scrumptious peanut butter frosting and to drizzle chocolate ganache on them. They turned out pretty and tasty!
